Hotspot between city and mountains

Starting point for your visits

Since the Courier shopping centre opened in 2001, it has become a favourite meeting place for locals and visitors to the region. Constructed on the site of the former horticultural greenhouses of Emile Courier, from which it takes its name, it has over the years become an iconic feature of Annecy and Haute-Savoie. There is a particularly good transport system from the main winter (and summer) sports resorts and from the city centre, and the large Courier municipal car park has 785 parking spaces. Something to make your visit easier!

Explore Annecy and its surroundings by bicycle

Annecy has an extensive network of cycle tracks that enable cyclists to travel easily and safely through the city and surrounding area. Among the main options:

  1. The green route on the shores of Lake Annecy. Paved for 35 km, it follows the route of the old railway line that once linked Annecy to Albertville. This is a fairly easy course with spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
  2. The cycle track on the banks of the Thiou. This track follows the river Thiou through the city centre of Annecy. It is especially pleasant in summer, when the terraces of the cafés and restaurants come alive.
  3. The ViaRhôna cycle route. Some 815 km long, the ViaRhôna follows the Rhône from Switzerland to the Mediterranean. One section of the track passes through Annecy, providing cyclists with a scenic route along the river.
  4. The Semnoz forest cycle circuit. This option follows a mountain road through the Semnoz forest, offering superb views of Lake Annecy and the surrounding slopes. The route is more difficult than the other cycle tracks, but for cycling enthusiasts it is worth the effort!

Please note that some cycle routes may be closed in winter due to snow and harsh weather conditions. It is therefore recommended that you inquire before you set off.
